Autumn 2

“Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.”

John 13:34

Autumn 2, 2026 · Family and Community · Faith-filled and Hopeful

Family and community

Our Building the Kingdom theme continues to be Family and Community. Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that every person is sacred and that we grow through our relationships with others.

This half-term, children explore how they can make a difference within their families, school, parish and wider community. Through their learning and everyday actions, they consider how to include others, share what they have and help people feel that they belong.

As we journey through Advent towards Christmas, we reflect on the Holy Family and how we can welcome Jesus through the love and care we show one another.

Faith-filled and hopeful

Our Autumn 2 virtues are Faith-filled and Hopeful.

Faith-filled: we grow in faith in God and in one another, recognising the love and support that help us face challenges.

Hopeful: we look forward with trust, recognising our gifts and using them to bring encouragement and hope to others.

These virtues help us approach Advent with open hearts, preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus through prayer, kindness and service.

Living our values

Our Autumn 2 experiences help children put Family and Community into practice.

Remembrance offers time to reflect, give thanks and pray for peace. One Life Retreat Day provides opportunities to deepen our faith together, while British Values Week encourages respect, understanding and responsibility within our communities.

Through the Corporal Acts of Mercy, children explore practical ways to care for others. Advent prayer and Nativity celebrations bring our community together as we share the hope and joy of Christmas.
