Special Needs and Inclusion

SPECIAL EDUCATION NEEDS/ INCLUSION

The school is fully inclusive and has a very effective policy for meeting special needs. The full written statement is available in school for any parents who wish to see it.

Miss Hill is the teacher with special responsibility for co-ordinating Special Educational Need arrangements in school. The Governors admit children according to the agreed criteria for admission, and so children with a full range of abilities are admitted. In keeping with DfE guidelines for ‘Inclusion’ we have always welcomed children regardless of ability – be that educational, behavioural or physical in line with the provision and setting we can offer, as a non –specialist school. We determine to identify special needs as early as possible to ensure the appropriate provision.

Presently, Teaching Assistants are employed who provide support in the classrooms. Some of these assistants are assigned to their particular class (e.g. in Reception class) and others work across the School according to the needs of the children.
