Building the Kingdom: Dignity of the Human Person
At Saint Mary’s, our Autumn 1 theme—Dignity of the Human Person—reminds us that every individual is created in the image of God and is equally loved as His child. We are called to treat one another with respect, compassion, and honesty, recognising the sacred worth in every person.
Spiritual Foundation
This theme is rooted in the belief that God loves us equally as His children, inspiring us to build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Our relationships are shaped by kindness and truth, reflecting the divine dignity within each of us.
Whole-School Virtues: Eloquent & Truthful
For the first half of the term, we are focusing on the Jesuit virtues:
-
Eloquent – We speak with confidence, clarity, and kindness, using our words to uplift and inspire.
-
Truthful – We are honest and sincere, choosing truth even when it is difficult, and building trust through integrity.
These virtues help our pupils grow into thoughtful communicators and courageous truth-seekers, ready to make a positive impact in their school, home, Church, and wider world.
Living Our Values
Our commitment to the Dignity of the Human Person is reflected in the way we treat one another—with respect, honesty, and love. This term, we continue to explore what it means to honour the unique worth of every individual through assemblies, classroom reflections and creative projects.
As part of this journey, we proudly celebrate Black History Month, deepening our understanding of diversity, identity, and justice. Through curriculum links and whole-school activities, pupils learn about inspirational figures, cultural heritage, and the ongoing contributions of Black communities. These celebrations help us recognise the dignity in every story and the strength found in shared history.
