Building the Kingdom: Dignity of the Human Person
This half term, we continue to reflect on the theme of Dignity of the Human Person, recognising that every individual is created in the image of God and is equally loved. We are called to treat one another with respect, compassion, and honesty, honouring the sacred worth in every person.
Spiritual Foundation
This theme is rooted in the belief that God loves us equally as His children, inspiring us to build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. Our relationships are shaped by kindness and truth, reflecting the divine dignity within each of us.
Whole-School Virtues
For the second half of the term, we are focusing on the Jesuit virtues Learned and Wise:
Learned – finding God in all things, growing in knowledge and understanding.
Wise – using our learning to serve others and make choices for the common good.
These virtues guide our pupils to be:
Thoughtful learners who seek truth and understanding.
Compassionate leaders who use their knowledge to uplift others.
Faithful witnesses who reflect God’s love in their choices and actions.
Through scripture, prayer, music, and creative activities, pupils explore what it means to be truly learned and wise in today’s world.
Living Our Community Spirit
Our commitment to the Dignity of the Human Person is reflected in how we treat one another—with respect, honesty, and love. This term, we explore this through:
- Remembrance Day – Honouring those who gave their lives for peace and freedom, recognising the dignity in sacrifice and service.
- Other Faiths Week – Learning about different religious traditions helps us appreciate the richness of human experience and the sacredness of every belief system.
- Advent – A time of waiting and preparation, Advent invites us to reflect on the coming of Christ and to live out the Corporal Works of Mercy, showing love through action: feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and comforting those in need.
Through assemblies, classroom reflections, and creative projects, pupils deepen their understanding of what it means to honour the unique worth of every individual.
