Summer 1 2026

Building the Kingdom: Stewardship

This half term, we focus on the Catholic Social Teaching principle of Stewardship, which reminds us that everything we have – our world, our talents, our time, and our relationships – is a gift from God. We are called to care for creation responsibly and to use what we have wisely, not just for ourselves, but for the good of others and for future generations.

Stewardship encourages us to recognise the richness of God’s creation, to live sustainably, and to act with gratitude and generosity. Through this theme, pupils are invited to reflect on how their daily choices can protect our common home and help build God’s Kingdom through service, care, and responsibility.

Spiritual Foundation

Our learning is rooted in scripture and the belief that creation belongs to God and is entrusted to us with love.

Scripture reminds us:

“The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” (Psalm 24:1)

Jesus teaches us to recognise God’s gifts and to share them generously with others, recognising that love is shown through action.

The Church teaches that stewardship requires more than care for the environment; it includes responsibility for people, especially the poor and vulnerable, and a commitment to justice, sustainability and the dignity of every human person.

Through scripture, prayer and reflection, pupils will explore how living as good stewards reflects gratitude for God’s gifts and generosity in serving others.

Whole-School Virtues

For the first half of the summer term, we focus on the Jesuit virtues of Grateful and Generous.

Pupils in our school are growing to be . . .

Grateful for their own gifts, for the gift of other people, and for the blessings of each day.

Generous with their gifts, both now and in the future, using them in service of others.

These virtues will encourage pupils to:

Recognise and appreciate the gifts they have been given.

Take responsibility for how they use their talents, time and resources.

Share what they have with kindness and compassion.

Act wisely and joyfully to care for God’s creation and community.

Living Our Community Spirit

Our commitment to stewardship encourages pupils to recognise their responsibility to care for both people and creation. This term, pupils will reflect on how gratitude for God’s gifts leads to generous action, compassion and service.

Throughout this half term, pupils will explore how their learning and choices can support through key school events:

Pentecost – UNCRC Article 14

Pupils reflect on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how the disciples were called to use their gifts generously in service of others. Children consider how faith inspires them to act with courage, kindness and responsibility towards those in need.

May Procession – UNCRC Article 14

As part of our Marian celebrations, pupils honour Mary as an example of humble stewardship and generous love. Through prayer and reflection, children are encouraged to care for others with gentleness, gratitude and compassion.

Mental Health Awareness Week – UNCRC Article 14

Pupils explore the importance of emotional wellbeing and supporting one another with understanding and respect. Children are reminded that caring for mental health is an act of stewardship, ensuring that everyone feels valued, listened to and supported within our community.
